Pixel 8a price leaks just 2 weeks before its potential launch at Google I/O event

The Pixel 8a is soon expected to launch in India and other global markets. Google is hosting its latest I/O conference on May 14 and like every year, it is expected to launch a toned-down version of its flagship Pixel phones at the event. Now, just two weeks before the Google event, the price of the Pixel 8a has leaked online. Here is everything we know.Â

The Pixel 8a is said to come with a starting price of $499 in the US, which is around Rs 41,000 in India when converted. This suggests that the mid-range premium device could be made available in a similar price range as the old model. To recall, its predecessor, the Pixel 7a, was announced in the country for Rs 43,999. This price is for the 128GB of internal storage.Â

It will be even better if Google surprises everyone and launches its Pixel 8a smartphone for less than Rs 40,000. The Pixel A series phones are pretty good and Google just needs to price it right to give its rivals better competition.  Â

The leak also claims that the Pixel 8a will also have a 256GB storage model and it will be priced at $599 (around Rs 50,000), according to a report by Smartprix. If Google changes its pricing strategy, then it will likely give users a better deal and its Pixel A series phones will get more popularity.Â

If leaks are to be believed, the Pixel 8a could feature a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel is expected to have a peak HDR brightness of 1,400nits, matching the higher-end Pixel 8 model. This would be a significant improvement over the Pixel 7a, which had a 90Hz screen.Â

Under the hood, the Pixel 8a is said to be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, similar to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. However, there might be a variation in the chipset used. While the regular G3 chip employs FOPLP (Fan-Out Panel Level Packaging), the Pixel 8a’s G3 chip could utilise IPoP (Integrated Package on Package) technology.

The smartphone is also said to sport a bigger 4,500mAh battery under the hood. Its predecessor, the Pixel 7a has a 4,385mAh battery. It’s expected to support 27W fast charging for quick battery refills. As usual, Google won’t bundle a charger in the retail box along with the smartphone.

The leaks also suggest that the handset will have the same rear camera setup as its predecessor. Hence, the new one is said to feature a 64-megapixel primary camera with OIS support and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera at the back. For selfies, we might see a 13-megapixel front camera.Â
