Pitso Mosimane speaks out after his club Abha lost 5-0

Pitso Mosimane has found the going tough ever since he returned to Saudi Arabia to coach Abha Club in January.

The 59-year-old coach’s mandate is to help the club avoid relegation in the Saudi Pro League. On Thursday, his team lost 5-0 to Al-Shabab which dealt a huge blow to the club’s survival hopes.

Speaking after the defeat, the South African coach said his side needed to work harder as per reports.

“We played a bad much, and we missed a number of opportunities despite the shortage of important players, but this is football, it is full of mistakes that we will work on in the future, said Abha coach Pitso Mosimane.

“Losing is possible, as is winning but the team must work and work in order to win. We are hoping that the upcoming matches will be the beginning of the team’s exit from this situation.”

Abha Club’s next game is against Al Akhdoud, who sit one place below them and Pitso Mosimane will be eyeing a win. With a win separating the two teams, a win for Jingles’s side could be vital in the relegation race.

Last week, Mosimane’s side bounced back after losing 8-0 to Cristiano Ronaldo’s led Al Nassr. They secured a 2-1 crucial victory over Al-Fateh to move out of the relegation zone. Despite the win, Pitso received criticism from the local media for his defensive play.

Pitso Mosimane’s Abha Club in danger yet again

“I do not have Sadio Mane or Cristiano Ronaldo. I can only work with the elements I have,” Mosimane replied when asked about his tactics.

“I’m trying with all my might to work hard, but I don’t have more players who have special qualities.

“The performance has improved since our arrival, and we hope to continue this work to stay away from the relegation positions. We must help Abha to stay in the professional league, and this is our main goal,” Pitso Mosimane said.
