PHLPost adopts flexi-time for letter carriers
MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has adopted flexi-time to protect letter carriers from danger and risk of possible heat exhaustion.
PHLPost over the weekend ordered the adjustment in the mail delivery schedule of letter carriers to prevent heat-related illnesses.
“To avoid possible heat exhaustion or other related complications, all postal areas across the country are directed to allow flexi-time in the mail schedule of letter carriers,” it said.
PHLPost said letter carriers may start their mail delivery as early as 6 a.m. and wrap up before noon.
To uphold the eight-hour per day schedule, the remaining man hours shall be used in performing other activities including scanning or updating delivery information in the systems, walk sorting, and preparing the mail for the next morning delivery.
Managers and supervisors were reminded to observe precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses among their employees.
Many areas in the country have experienced dangerous heat levels, including Metro Manila.
