PFF has graded college football players since 2014, so the advanced analytics outlet which looks back at each play from every player has seen some really good running backs over its time.
And one stands out above the rest.
Though rival fans love to try to downplay his accomplishments now that he’s headed to the NFL draft, Michigan football fans are pretty well aware of just how special Blake Corum was wearing a winged helmet. Not only was he all class off the field, but on the field, he was dynamic, speedy, shifty, and a gamer who managed to make the biggest plays in the biggest games.
PFF put out a chart of the highest career grades among draft-eligible running backs at this juncture, and while some will have players like Texas’ Jonathan Brooks ranked higher in their mock drafts, PFF has Corum as the best of the best.

This week at the NFL scouting combine, Corum will have an opportunity to showcase his skills more acutely for NFL scouts, general managers, and coaches. If he can showcase his speed again (which we didn’t see as much of in 2023 after his 2022 knee injury), he could make a strong case to be an early-round selection, or perhaps the highest running back taken in the April NFL draft.
