Patriots’ Christian Gonzalez makes a bold declaration for the 2024 season
After being drafted 17th overall by the New England Patriots, cornerback Christian Gonzalez was making a name for himself early in his rookie season, winning Defensive Rookie of the Month in September.
However, things quickly turned downward, as Gonzalez suffered a torn labrum and a dislocated shoulder in New England’s Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, ending his season prematurely.
Now that he’s fully healthy and ready to attack his second season, Gonzalez is looking for a challenge from his coaches.
On Tuesday, he told reporters that he wants to cover the top receivers across the league, but, of course, he’ll follow the coaches’ plans.
This level of confidence is important in a team’s top cornerback, and if he plays the way he did in the first four weeks prior to his injury as a rookie, he should be able to compete with the NFL’s best.
