“I want to be here bad!” That’s what Columbus HC Pascal Vincent said yesterday at his exit interview in front of the media at Nationwide Arena.

When it was Vincent’s turn to take on the media, everyone knew the question would come up, and it did.

When asked about his future with the team, Vincent said,

“I really want to be here. I think this team is on the verge of, if we do this right, we can be quite successful for years to come. The goal is not to make the playoffs, the goal is to make the playoffs every year, to put yourself in position to make the playoffs every year and then to be successful in the playoffs. Do I think this team is turning a corner? 100 percent. Do I want to be here? 100 percent. More than that, the city is amazing, the fans are amazing. Ownership, we have the support, we have the tools, we have the recourses that you need to have in order to be successful. Now it’s just to build on top of that. Do I want to be here? yeah, I want to be here bad.”

That morning he also took to the radio with his weekly radio appearance on 97.1 The Fan’s Morning Juice show. “We’re going to have a new GM. I think exciting years are ahead of us, and hopefully, I’m a part of it.”

Pascal Vincent went 27-43-12 in his first season at the helm of the Columbus Blue Jackets, but will he be here for a second year?

John Davidson has said that ultimately it will be up to the new GM to decide whether or not Vincent stays. If Vincent were to be let go, this would be the fourth head coach in a year which is remarkable to think about.

This summer, per the usual, will be both interesting and exciting.
