Pakistan release refreshing new ‘Matrix’ jersey for T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan, on Monday, May 6, released their jersey for the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played later this year in the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies. To present their jersey, Pakistan cricket released a video, featuring skipper Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Saim Ayub.

Pakistan cricket called the new ‘Matrix’ jersey as a symbol of unity. They captioned the video and wrote, “Lapait khud per watan ka parcham, baja de danka, macha de shoor,” which roughly translates to wearing the national colour and making noise. Â

Expectations will be high when the Men in Green take the field for the World Cup. Back in 2022, Babar’s men made their way through to the final, but lost to England. Since 2017, Pakistan are yet to get their hands on an ICC trophy and would be desperate to end the agonising wait.

Recently, Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim reversed their decisions to retire and made a comeback to the national T20I setup. After locking horns with New Zealand in the 5-match T20I series at home, Pakistan will be looking to perform well in the UK.

Pakistan have also been bolstered by the return of Haris Rauf, one of their key pacers. Rauf sustained a shoulder injury while playing for the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.

Pakistan are scheduled to begin their campaign on Thursday, June 6 against the USA at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
