Packers draft pick responds to critics

With the No. 25 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected Jordan Morgan.

But while many have presumed that the Arizona product would fill the void left by the release of David Bakhtiari, others have questioned whether he has the body type to play left tackle at the next level.

Speaking to reporters at the Packers’ rookie minicamp, however, the 6-foot-5, 311-pound Morgan made it clear he doesn’t have any doubt about his ability to protect quarterback Jordan Love’s blindside.

“I was out there today at left tackle,” Morgan said according to Packers Wire’s Paul Betl. “I’m trying to show that I’m a true left tackle and show I’ll be out there on the edge to protect the quarterback.”

As for the concerns that his arms aren’t long enough to play left tackle in the NFL, the 22-year-old replied: “I get that a lot – the short arms stuff. It’s like you obviously haven’t watched film. I use them pretty well. I move people off the ball. I pass set really well, protect the quarterback. You see the stats. That doesn’t bother me, though. I’m just gonna prove everybody wrong.”

It remains to be seen whether Morgan will remain at left tackle when Green Bay’s full roster reports for training camp. But the fact that he’s already playing there in rookie minicamp speaks volumes about where the Packers see his future at.
