With exactly 100 days until the opening ceremony of Paris 2024, data specialist Gracenote has released its predicted medal table for the Games.
Comprising results and statistics from key global and domestic sporting competitions since Tokyo 2020, the medal tally forecasts the gold, silver and bronze medal counts for the participating nations, as well as the results of individual athletes and teams at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.
According to Gracenote’s predicted medal tally, Australia is in a strong position to finish fifth on the total medal table.

With 13 gold, 19 silver and 18 bronze medals predicted, Australia’s total of 50 medals would equal the country’s greatest haul in 20 years — since the Aussies picked up the same number of medals at Athens 2004.
However, achieving this feat is likely to rely on Australia’s success in the pool.
Poor performances from the Australian swimming team at London 2012 and Rio 2016 heavily impacted the nation’s overall medal total.
Australian swimmers Emily Seebohm, Kaylee McKeown, Cate Campbell, Emma McKeon, Ariarne Titmus and Izaac Stubblety-Cook pose with their medals from Tokyo 2020.
The United States is expected to top the medal tally in Paris with 123 medals.
If this feat is achieved, it will mark the eighth consecutive time that the US has got the better of the rest of the Olympic nations, and could result in its greatest medal haul since Los Angeles 1984.
Just under half of the US’ projected medals are expected to be picked up in swimming and athletics.
China is projected to rank second in total medals won but can be expected to challenge the US for the most gold medals won in Paris.
While Great Britain’s overall number of medals looks steady, its tally of gold could take a dive in Paris with the nation projected to win just 13.
Host nation France is tipped to have its best Olympic Games since 1900 with 56 medals predicted.
France’s rugby superstar Antoine Dupont will represent his nation at the Olympics in rugby sevens.
The host nation is expected to medal in 25 different sports, which would be a new record for France.
Most Russian and Belarusian competitors have been barred from participating in international events as a consequence of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
As a result, these athletes could impact Gracenote’s predictions, however only select athletes from these countries will be able to compete as individual neutral athletes.
Using the results of previous Games, world championships and World Cups, Gracenote has also compiled the Australian athletes and teams ranked in the top three of their respective sports, many of whom have legitimate Olympic gold medal prospects.
