Orlando Pirates to sacrifice two strikers for ex-Burnley forward?

Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for yet another striker in the off-season.

Pirates are believed to already be closing in on DRC striker Andy Boyeli but that doesn’t seem to be enough.

They’re also believed to be in the race for Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan, with archrivals Kaizer Chiefs. The club was already active in the recently concluded January transfer window. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Just last week, it was rumoured that they’re monitoring veteran Swati goal machine Sabelo Ndzinisa. Earlier in the week, this publication reported that Pirates had welcomed former Burnley youth academy striker Tremaine Eastmond for assessments.

Pirates look keen to sign Eastmond

Earlier in the week, this publication reported that Eastmond has been impressing during practice at Pirates. It is thought that the player cannot stop scoring. He is also believed to be making it hard for the club to ignore the possibility of signing him. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, they will have to make some sacrifices first.

“From the technical team to the players and management. Obviously the way things are, they are going to sign him (Eastmond). They will apparently tie him down now but may only start using him next season. But for them (Pirates) to do that they want to release some strikers as well. One or two strikers will go to accommodate the youngster. As of now, there is no doubt that they will sign him. I see no reason why they can’t sign him, seriously,” said the source.

Two of these three to be sacrificed?

It would be interesting to see if Eastmond will impress at Pirates. This especially since he was deemed not good enough by Cape Town Spurs who are relegation threatened. The Buccaneers are believed to be ready to overhaul their striking department at the end of the season. Zakhele Lepasa, Kermit Erasmus and Souaibou Marou are all thought to be heading for the exit door.
