Orlando Pirates receive TRIPLE boost for Chippa United encounter

Orlando Pirates have found form at just the right time of the season as they turn to the Nedbank Cup

Pirates are set to take on Chippa United in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup in Gqeberha this afternoon.

They will head into the game on the back of scoring 18 goals in five games in all competitions. What sparked the run was an emphatic 7-1 victory over Golden Arrows. That was followed up by two games against AmaZulu which resulted in 4-1 and 1-0 victories. Pirates then moved on to score a 4-0 win over Royal AM and then a 2-0 win over Cape Town City. That was a historic first win against the Citizen’s in Cape Town for the Soweto giants.

Pirates in red hot form

In their ranks, they also boast the red-hot Tshegofatso Mabasa. The in form striker currently sits on 13 goals in the league this season. He will be hoping to take that form into the Nedbank Cup where he already has three goals for Pirates.

If he can, that would give Pirates every chance of advancing to the Nedbank Cup final, at the expense of Chippa. Thats a team they have shared good relations with in the past. Those relations have even seen each side benefit in terms of player exchanges. There will be no friendly exchanges on the field of play for both parties at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium however.

Chippa have three suspensions

There will be the motivation of booking a place in the final of the Nedbank Cup at stake. Chippa, however, will find themselves handicapped, with three key players suspended for the encounter. The Chilli Boys will be without the services of Azola Ntsabo, Baraka Majogoro & club captain Roscoe Pietersen due to suspension. As a result Pirates could be licking their lips at that.
