Muhyiddin (right) with Hadi during a meeting with PN leaders at the former prime minister’s home in Kuala Lumpur, recently.
SHAH ALAM – The relationship between Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin remains good as usual.
Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the claim that Hadi and the former eighth prime minister was in a “cold war” was false and malicious.
He said such rumours were made to create discord among PN leaders.
Tuan Ibrahim who is also Kubang Kerian MP highlighted the positive relationship between the Marang MP and the Pagoh MP.
He emphasised that their relationship was marked by friendliness and devoid of any issues, countering assertions made by certain parties.
“This information (the claim that Hadi and Muhyiddin was in a “cold war”) is untrue.
“The meeting (a one-on-one meeting between the Pas president and the Bersatu president at the former’s residence) and the meeting attended by the top leadership of the party were to discuss several major programmes, including the PN Convention.
“I think the propagation of this misinformation is unfounded and a deliberate spread of fake news. In fact, I can confirm that the PN meeting went well and there were no issues between the leaders of Pas and Bersatu,” he told Sinar.
Tuan Ibrahim said this in response to a news portal report claiming that despite the Pas president and Bersatu president having a one-on-one meeting at Muhyiddin’s residence in the capital city, their relationship remained cold and they have failed to resolve their differences.
The rumours of a cold relationship between Hadi and Muhyiddin was not new and it has been denied by Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris in early February.
Razali said the claims were fabricated by certain parties to sow discord between the two PN leaders.
He described the allegation as a strategy aimed at damaging the image of PN following reported declines in support for the unity government, particularly within the Malay community.
He asserted that Muhyiddin’s relationship with Hadi was good and that PN meetings were regularly conducted.
“The effort to sow discord between these two leaders is not new and has been carried out since PN won many seats in the 15th General Election (GE15) and several by-elections in majority Malay voter areas.
“So, through sources, they deliberately claim that the relationship between the two leaders was cold. In reality, their relationship was good. It’s just that now, with Tuan Guru’s (Hadi) health condition, he is rarely seen with Muhyiddin or attending PN meetings.
“It’s not that Tuan Guru doesn’t want to meet Muhyiddin. On the contrary, he avoids meeting many people. Recently, even Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim couldn’t meet him because he is undergoing treatment,” he said.
