Olympic flame lit ahead of Paris Games

100 days out from the Paris Games, the Olympic flame has been lit.

Following tradition, the torch was brought to life with the help of the sun’s rays at the archaeological site of Olympia in Greece.

The flame will go on tour through Greece, with 600 torchbearers covering 5,000 km in 11 days.

It will then head to Marseille in France.

During France’s Torch Relay, it will be passed from person to person among 10,000 torchbearers.

Olympic officials say they are excited for the games, hoping people understand the sense of unity it brings.
