Eva Lawler postpones Japan trip to tackle NT floods

The Northern Territory’s new Chief Minister has delayed her trip to Japan to deal with the ongoing flood situation in the north.

Eva Lawler was meant to arrive in Tokyo today to meet representatives and investors from companies such as gas giant Inpex.

However, monsoonal rainfall has caused extensive flooding, resulting in the closure of 500 kilometres of the Stuart Highway.

The Chief Minister’s trip is expected to be rescheduled in the coming months.

Ms Lawler plans to meet with Inpex’s CEO to discuss continued expansion of gas in the Territory.
