NYY News: AlonSoto Shuffle?
New York Post | Jon Heyman: Two of the biggest upcoming free agents this year are in New York, with Juan Soto and Pete Alonso. While both are more likely to stay with their respective current teams, there’s a chance the two could swap boroughs, especially if the rumors about the Mets interest in Soto come to fruition. The Yankees are said to have Soto as a “top priority,” but if the Mets outbid them, the Bombers could pivot to the Polar Bear.
MLB Trade Rumors | Darragh McDonald: The Yankees made a minor roster move yesterday, designating infielder Kevin Smith in order to make room for Taylor Trammell. Trammell, who was claimed from the Mariners by the Dodgers earlier this year, had only six plate appearances for LA in which he went hitless. Trammell was once a highly-touted prospect but lack of success in the majors has worn some of the shine off him.
The New York Groove | Bradford William Davis: The food at Yankee Stadium can be a fun adventure, but understandably it’s not for everyone. Whether a refined palate or just trying to save on costs, some people want different (or better) options than what’s available at the stadium. Luckily, Davis has put together a guide of the best alternative options for food around the stadium. All of these are within a 15-minute walk, bus, or train ride.
New York Daily News | Gary Phillips: Some scattered thoughts from yesterday’s off-day regarding the team. Phillips goes into Boone’s decision to ride the hot hand in Trevino when he pinch hit for Wells in Wednesday’s game, how DJ LeMahieu’s return could impact the team’s look with Volpe succeeding in the leadoff spot and Oswaldo Cabrera’s hot start to the year, and lastly some thoughts on how the bullpen is managing to succeed with the strikeout numbers down.
