The New South Wales government has expressed concerns for the health of the state’s festival scene following the cancellation of 2024’s Splendour in the Grass.
NSW festival scene continues its struggles as Splendour in the Grass cancels
Byron Bay’s 50,000-person festival has cited unexpected events, which will see the multitude of concerts not eventuate this year.
With tickets on sale for less than a week, the July 19-21 event has re-closed its doors, leaving behind headline acts such as Kylie Minogue and G Flip.
NSW Music Minister John Graham has labelled the cancellation as “devastating” while also revealing he was “deeply worried” for the festival scene in the state.
Mr Graham also ventured financial support for the concert if it was to go ahead this year and continue on for future years.
