Not Virat Kohli! Jonny Bairstow Picks 33-Year-Old Indian Star As One Of The Top 3 T20 Batters In The World
Star English wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow, who is playing for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024, has ignored Virat Kohli to pick a 33-year-old Indian star as one of the top 3 T20 batters in the world right now. Kohli has been in red-hot form for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2024. In 11 matches played so far, he has scored 542 runs, which is the most by any batter. But despite his heroics with the bat, Bairstow has ignored him and instead picked Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav as one of the best T20 batters in the world, along with Heinrich Klaasen and Jos Buttler.
During the 25-question with Jonny Bairstow show of ESPNcricinfo, the English batter, who has 257 runs to his name in nine matches of IPL 2024, was asked, “Who are the top three T20 batters in the world right now?” and in reply, he said, “(Heinrich) Klaasen, Suryakumar (Yadav), Jos Buttler.”
While Klaasen and Buttler have impressed with their batting shows in the IPL 2024, Surya has failed to deliver consistent performances for MI. In eight matches played so far, he has 232 runs to his name. He hammered 56 runs from 35 balls in the last match for the Mumbai Indians against KKR, but wasn’t able to help his side win the match. The world No. 1 T20I batter will expect to come up with a big show against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday (May 6) during match No. 55 of IPL 2024, which is scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
