Not CM Punk! Seth Rollins To Defend World Heavyweight Championship Against Former WWE Champion On Raw's Day 1
not cm punk! seth rollins to defend world heavyweight championship against former wwe champion on raw’s day 1
Seth Rolins will continue to defend his World Heavyweight Championship and now he will put his title on the line on the first episode of Raw in 2024. The first Raw of 2024 is scheduled to take place on January 1. While many would be thinking that CM Punk will be Rolins’ opponent, that’s not the case.
The Visionary will defend his title against Drew McIntyre on the red brand. The news was announced on this week’s show. The update isn’t a big surprise as Punk hadn’t earned a title match yet.
He has declared for the 2024 Royal Rumble and will get his title match at Wrestlemania if he wins the 30-man match next month. There are chances of Punk winning the Rumble and challenging Rollins at Wrestlemania 40.
As for McIntyre, this will be the second time he will challenge Rollins for the title. The former WWE Champion fell short against the champion at Crown Jewel 2023, which took place in Saudi Arabia on November 4.
It will be interesting to see if there will be a twist on the road to Wrestlemania and if McIntyre can win the title. McIntyre’s two championship reigns came when WWE was staging the shows without any fans due to COVID-19.
The Scottish superstar defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event of Wrestlemania 36 to win the WWE Championship for the first time. He defeated Randy Orton in November 2020 to regain the title. McIntyre lost the championship to The Miz at the Elimination Chamber.
He has competed for top titles since then but has always come up short. He is presently involved in a storyline with Jey Uso.
CM Punk, meanwhile, is set to face Dominik Mysterio at a live event on December 30. It could be Punk’s comeback match in the company. Punk last competed in WWE in January 2014.
