In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, Norwegian Cruise Line is offering educators an exclusive year-round cruise discount and onboard credit. The cruise line is also once again recognizing top teachers—and giving them free cruises—through its Giving Joy program.
“We are proud of our history of thanking educators for their hard work and commitment to shaping the next generation of future leaders,” says David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
Teacher Appreciation week is May 6-10. To say thank you to the thousands of hard-working educators working in schools around the country, Norwegian is unveiling its teacher cruise discount.
All active classroom teachers, principals, assistant principals, school employees and college/university professors are now eligible for a 5 percent discount off their cruise fare and a $50 onboard credit. To participate, educators must be validated through ID.me.
The cruise line will also be giving 20 teachers a free vacation aboard the forthcoming Norwegian Aqua, slated to debut in April 2025. The giveaway comes on the fifth-year anniversary of Norwegian’s Giving Joy program.
From May 6 through June 7, people can nominate their favorite teachers across the U.S. and Canada. The educators who receive the most votes will be invited to Boston from April 4-6 for an exclusive inaugural event aboard Norwegian Aqua. The top five winners will have an opportunity to attend Norwegian Aqua’s christening ceremony, plus the ship’s maiden 3-night voyage from Miami.
Since the program first launched in 2019, Giving Joy has donated nearly $445,000 to teachers and schools. The campaign has received nearly 60,000 teacher nominations and more than 1.8 million votes. The cruise line has given more than 250 educators a free trip.
“Travel is a powerful means of education, and we look forward to welcoming educators to join us on board to explore the world,” says Herrera.
