Nocturnal storm threat could turn severe in parts of southern Ontario
We are tracking 2 rounds of severe thunderstorms that could be impacting regions across Southern Ontario into your Tuesday evening and into your Wednesday afternoon. Here’s a outlook from the SPC. We’re looking at a slight to enhanced risk well up close to the border here in those states like Ohio down towards Kentucky, Indiana and this energy may have the chance to make its way across international border down towards Southwest Ontario where we potentially may have a non zero chance of seeing. A tornado down towards Southwestern Ontario. Now mostly the ingredients are coming together for large hail and strong winds. It’s a very low chance to see tornadoes down towards extreme southwestern Ontario. Overall though, areas in orange the threat to see more of those severe storms. Meanwhile areas in yellow looking at more non severe storms into your overnight hours and into your Wednesday morning as that warm front moves through. There is those thunderstorms moving in and quite scattered in nature though And then as we head into your Wednesday afternoon. That’s when my shift is going to be shifting as we look into Eastern Ontario down towards College Country, Orillia, Peterborough down towards Calidar, Kingston. We’re going to be tracking these storms into your Wednesday afternoon. They potentially could be a bit more of a stronger side as well as they do have a bit more daytime heating available to fuel these storms. That’s the area there in the orange where you have to keep in mind for the more stronger storms. But overall potentially we’re looking a little bit heavier rainfall down towards the N 10 to 20mm by Wednesday.
