No major reshuffle taking place at PNP –Marbil

As four police officials were moved to key positions during the latter part of April, Philippine National Police Chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil said Tuesday that there was no major reshuffle of positions at the PNP under his leadership.

“Hindi natin talaga gusto yung palit palit. Ang ginagawa lang natin… inaayos muna, kasi maraming nag-retire sa’tin and we’re trying to reposition them para sa next assignments,” the police chief said in an ambush interview.

(We don’t want to keep shuffling positions. We’re just arranging things because a lot of people retiring and we’re trying to reposition others for their next assignments.)

“Doesn’t mean na tinanggal natin, hindi sila working. Kailangan lang silang ilipat kasi ito ang dapat na position para sa kanila. Pero walang major reshuffle that’s happening,” he added.

(It doesn’t mean that we’re removing them, that it isn’t working out with them. They just need to be re-positioned because that is where they best fit in. But no major reshuffle is taking place.)

Benefits

Marbil also denied rumors that police personnel benefits, such as the rice subsidy, combat incentive pay, and combat duty pay, would be decreased.

“That’s not true. Hindi kami pwede magbawas kasi libro po ‘yan, binigay ng gobyerno. Anything na bingyan ng gobyerno at nasa libro, hindi po namin pwedeng bawasan. Ang pwede lang namin magagawa is dagdagan ang mga benefit, but we cannot reduce the benefit ng mga tao,” he said.

(That’s not true. We can’t reduce their benefits because it’s given by the government. The only thing we can do is increase their benefits, but not reduce them.)

He said that the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group is already looking for the culprit who was disseminating such misinformation that might give the police the wrong idea.

Marbil, however, did not believe that there was a demolition effort against him.

“It’s normal lang ho talaga… Baka they’re testing the ground gaano kagaling ang Anti-Cybercrime Group natin. But of course, we’ll get them soon,” he added.

Marbil, who was appointed PNP Chief by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. last April, also said there was no need for a loyalty check at the police organization.
