Nicks admits Crows have ‘regressed’

The head scratching conversations have become an all too common occurrence at West Lakes. We’ve dropped off in an area that we prided ourselves on for years and geez, we’re hard to play against. We were a competitive, scrappy team. The vesude of becoming more polished performers is where Matthew Nix believes his side lost its edge. Rediscovering it from 15th on the ladder is a tall order, there’s no doubt. You know it’s a mental issue. It’s one that we’ve got to get right. The pre-season declaration of finals or busts now haunting the Crows and exposing their inexperienced heads. You always question, you know, does embracing expectation, does it take your eye off of exactly what we just talked through, which is, you know, what is the DNA of this group? And yet the coach is unlikely to spring major change. He’s already ruled out Sam Berry and Brody Smith is in serious doubt after missing main training. Matt Crouch returns from suspension on Saturday, but Dan Curtin and Billy Dowling may need to wait even longer to debut. So those people that are that are chomping at the bit to get Billy into our team, well, let’s make sure we are watching SNFL as well. And. Maybe not just disappointed with what we’re seeing at Arfield. Nick’s backing Joshua Shelley to rebound after those glaring marking mistakes. Yeah, he knows he needs to be better in that. We’ve all had a moment. I sat down with Josh, I said mate, we’ve all had actually I had about 15. The message loud and clear. Attack the footy at all costs, even after Giants captain Toby Green failed to have his one match ban overturned. Right now we’re looking for our place to go and fight and and really bring a contest. And so that’s what we’re encouraging our players now if there’s a collision. Then we’re going to have to cop that. Braden Ingram. 9 News.
