New Zealand government cracks down on gangs
The New Zealand government is taking measures to crack down on gangs in the country.
The government will likely introduce punitive measures for individuals wearing or displaying gang associated logos.
Data shows that gang membership in the country rose 81 per cent from 2017 to 2023.
“There’s only one reason why gang members wear gang patches, and that is quite simply to intimidate,” New Zealand Police Minister Mark Mitchell said.
