Wanted man nabbed for cable theft in Ampang
AMPANG: A 34-year-old man on the wanted list has been detained for allegedly stealing 150m of telecommunications cables worth RM6,000 at Taman Utama here.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said a technician lodged a police report on the left at 11.49am on Friday (Jan 19).
“Investigation led us to arrest the suspect, a lorry driver, at Jalan Hujan Gerimis in Overseas Union Garden, Kuala Lumpur at 11.10pm the same day.
“We also seized items including a cutter and the cables,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 21).
The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and ketamine, he added.
“He also has 16 offences on his criminal record and was put on the wanted list for a drug-related offence.
“We believe he is involved in one case in Ampang Jaya and two other cases in Brickfields,” he added.
ACP Mohd Azam said the suspect has been remanded until Tuesday (Jan 23).
