NBA futures odds 2024: Championship predictions, series picks, best bets by proven basketball expert

After winning their final two games of the regular season and going 11-3 since March 18, the Lakers rose to the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference, raising them to a position to just need to win one of two games to advance out of the 2024 Play-In Tournament and officially make the 2024 NBA playoffs. LeBron James had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 17 assists in the final game of the season against the Pelicans and the Lakers will play the Pelicans again in the play-in tournament on Tuesday. The loser will play the winner of the Warriors vs. Kings for the No. 8 seed in the 2024 NBA playoffs.

The Celtics are +175 favorites (risk $100 to win $175) to win the 2024 NBA Finals after winning 64 games, seven more than any other team in the league. The Nuggets, the defending NBA champions, follow at +270 in the latest 2024 NBA futures odds to win it all. Before making any basketball picks or 2024 NBA futures bets, be sure to see the latest NBA predictions from SportsLine basketball expert Bruce Marshall.

An in-demand guest on numerous sports talk radio and TV shows across the country, Marshall’s vast array of editorial work has been featured in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the New York Post and many other outlets. He has won various handicapping titles and also is working on several book projects. Marshall has crushed his NBA picks this season for SportsLine members, entering the postseason on a 153-117 run that has returned nearly $2,500 for $100 players. Anybody following is way up.

Now, he has revealed his top 2024 NBA futures bets. You can head to SportsLine to see them.

Top 2024 NBA futures bets

One of Marshall’s top 2024 NBA futures picks: He’s backing the Knicks (+1400) to win the Eastern Conference. Although the Knicks are the No. 2 seed, their reward for their first 50-win season in more than a decade is either Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers or the Miami Heat, the defending Eastern Conference champions. The tougher-than-expected first-round draw has lengthened their odds to a point where Marshall sees strong value in backing New York.

The Knicks are guaranteed home-court advantage until the Eastern Conference Finals and New York went 27-14 at Madison Square Garden this season. The Knicks will be without Julius Randle (shoulder) but the return of OG Anunoby from an elbow injury provides a huge offensive and defensive lift. The Knicks went 20-3 with Anunoby in the lineup this season, including 2-0 against the 76ers.

The Celtics are the team to beat in the East, but the Knicks most recently knocked them off, 118-198, on April 11 in their only meeting with Anunoby in the lineup. If the Knicks escape a tough first-round match, they could meet a Bucks team with uncertainties around Giannis Antetokounmpo’s health with a calf injury. Marshall is backing the Knicks to go on a run at this price. See the rest of Marshall’s NBA futures bets at SportsLine.
