''Mustafizur Has Nothing To Learn From IPL, Bangladesh Will Not Benefit From This'', Says BCB's Jalal Yunus

''mustafizur has nothing to learn from ipl, bangladesh will not benefit from this'', says bcb's jalal yunus

ipl 2024 ”mustafizur rahman has nothing to learn from ipl, bangladesh will not benefit from this”, says bcb’s jalal yunus csk chennai super kings

Jalal Yunus, the chairperson of Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations, has stood by the decision to recall Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 to join his national side’s T20 international series against Zimbabwe. BCB has officially informed both the IPL and Mustafizur’s franchise, CSK, that the pacer must return to his country to fulfill his national team commitments starting from May 2. This move comes as a setback to CSK’s strategies, as Mustafizur has been their standout bowler this season, claiming 10 wickets in 5 matches. Yunus asserted that the IPL no longer offers significant benefits to the Bangladesh fast bowler.

Mustafizur was slated to return to Bangladesh on May 1 for their five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe, beginning on May 3. However, CSK requested BCB to extend Mustafizur’s stay by a day, granting the left-arm pacer an opportunity to play an additional match for the Super Kings. Despite BCB’s decision to recall Mustafizur from the IPL, widely regarded as a prime platform to prepare for the T20 World Cup, several experts and former cricketers have advocated for allowing the pacer to continue participating in the T20 league in India.

In response to these suggestions, Yunus clarified that BCB’s decision is rooted in concerns over the experienced pacer’s fitness. Mustafizur is expected to be a crucial member of their T20 World Cup squad, prompting the board to prioritize his well-being and preparation.

“Mustafizur has nothing to learn from playing in the IPL. Mustafizur’s learning process is over. Rather, many players in IPL can learn from him. Bangladesh will not benefit from this,” Yunus said, via The Daily Star.

“Our concern is Mustafizur’s fitness. They want to take 100 percent from him. They don’t have a headache about his fitness, but we do. The reason we are bringing back Mustafizur is not just to play in the Zimbabwe series, but if he is brought here, we will plan him with the workload. But that plan won’t happen if he’s in IPL,” he added.
