Multiple areas in Tshwane are set to experience a 12-hour water interruption

City of Tshwane residents residing within the Salvokop Reservoir supply zone have been notified of essential upgrade work slated for Wednesday, 15 May, aimed at enhancing the local water supply network.

Additionally, this imperative maintenance will entail a 12-hour disruption in water supply, spanning from 8:00 to 20:00.

Affected areas in Tshwane

The interruption will affect various areas, including Arcadia Ext 6, parts of Arcadia to the west of Eastwood Street, Muckleneuk north of the rail line, Pretoria Central south of Visagie Street, Pretoria Ext 15, Pretoria Town and Townlands 351-JR, Prinshof 280-JR, Prinshof 349-JR, Salvokop Ext 1, 2, and 3, Sunnyside, and Trevenna.

“The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused by the mentioned upgrade,” said City of Tshwane.

Water conservation measures

In light of this interruption, Tshwane residents are strongly urged to maintain water conservation practices as part of their daily routine.

These measures for Tshwane residents include:

  • Avoid watering gardens or using sprinkler systems between 6:00 and 18:00.
  • Refrain from washing vehicles with hosepipes.
  • Abstain from filling swimming pools.
  • Tshwane residents should consider installing low-flow showerheads and tap aerators.
  • Utilise dual-flush toilet cisterns.
  • Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs.
  • Opt for a broom instead of a hosepipe for cleaning driveways or patios.
  • Collect rainwater for reuse.

Furthermore, the City also emphasises the importance of promptly fixing leaks in toilets and taps. As well as continuing to use greywater for gardening and flushing toilets.

In addition, the City of Tshwane encourages residents to explore installing water-saving devices to support ongoing conservation efforts and ensure sustainable water use within the community.
