Shadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan has slammed Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil and Immigration Minister Andrew Giles for being the “most incompetent ministers” that “Australia has ever seen”.
‘Most incompetent ministers Australia has ever seen’: Dan Tehan slams Giles and O’Neil
Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil has accused the Opposition of playing politics after the Albanese government failed to secure emergency removal powers for non-citizens.
The Opposition and Greens in the Senate rejected the government’s urgency with the bill and referred the laws to a parliamentary inquiry for scrutiny.
“This is something that the Coalition takes incredibly seriously, and we’ve demonstrated that through our nine years in government,” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia.
“What we’re trying to do is help the government because they have the most incompetent ministers I think Australia has ever seen in Clare O’Neil and Andrew Giles.
“I can’t think of two more incompetent ministers that I’ve seen handling an issue.”
