Moment Eurovision 2024 entrant suffers embarrassing fall on stage

In a moment that had viewers holding their breath, one of Ukraine’s entrants for the Eurovision Song Contest took an unexpected stumble during a semi-final dress rehearsal.
Alyona Alyona, a 32-year-old rapper who is collaborating with singer Jerry Heil, 28, for Ukraine in this year’s contest, experienced an embarrassing fall on stage earlier today.
Following Ukraine’s superb win in 2022, the pair have teamed up to perform Teresa & Maria, which was written to remind people that everyone is capable of achieving great heights and that ‘all the divas were born as human beings.’
The duo is one of the first 15 acts who are performing in semi-final 1 today in the hopes of making it all the way to the grand final, which will take place on Saturday.
However, in a clip circulating X, Alyona Alyona – real name Aliona Olehivna Savranenko – can be seen taking to the stage with gusto during the dress rehearsal, only to be caught off guard by her own footwork.

In a clip circulating X, Alyona Alyona can be seen taking to the stage with gusto during the dress rehearsal, only to be caught off guard by her own footwork
The footage was shared by bemused X user @Alex_Oloyede2 earlier today, who attached an accompanying caption that read: ‘I’m trying so hard not to laugh. The ukrainian contestant for #Eurovision.’
The 6-second video shows Alyona Alyona initially marching energetically across the stage, fully immersed in her performance.
However, a misstep causes her to lose her balance, resulting in a tumble onto her knees, as Jerry Heil continues to sing atop of a boulder prop in the background.
Despite the unexpected setback, Alyona Alyona displayed admirable resilience as she promptly rose to her feet, determined to carry on with her performance alongside her fellow entrant.
The rapper’s commitment to her craft was evident as she seamlessly resumed showcasing the full energy and beauty behind the pair’s empowering number.
Widely regarded as one of the country’s most successful artists, Alyona Alyona is currently one of the most popular female rappers in Ukraine.
She is also co-founder of the local major label that Eurovision 2022 winners Kalush Orchestra are signed with, according to Eurovision’s official website.
Among her numerous awards, Alyona Alyona also won a Public’s Choice Award in 2021 at the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards contest.

Meanwhile, entrant Olly Alexander, 33, hopes to turn the UK’s fortunes around after Mae Muller, 26, finished in second to last place in 2023.
Graham Norton expressed yesterday that he believes that Olly has a good chance of winning this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo Sweden on Saturday.
The TV host, 61, who commentates the competition, praised both the ‘bona fide pop star’ and his catchy entry Dizzy.
Speaking ahead of today’s first semi final, Graham said: ‘Having a bona fide pop star representing the UK this year is a great start. Olly has already done all the things that it’s impossible to prepare someone for’.
‘He has played to huge crowds, he can relate to the cameras, and he is used to high pressure situations. Add to that, the fact that the song is a massive bop and I think we could do really well this year.’
