Michigan fans shouldn’t expect to see Cristian Dixon at Saturday’s annual spring game.

As reported Wednesday afternoon by On3’s Pete Nakos and Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, the wide receiver entered the transfer portal. He’s spent three seasons with the Wolverines.

Dixon joined Michigan as a four-star recruit from the class of 2021. ESPN ranked the 6-foot-2 wideout as the No. 140 overall prospect and No. 13 player from California.

Yet he never carved out a role in Jim Harbaugh’s offense. Dixon logged his only catch when snagging a seven-yard grab in a 63-10 win over Northern Illinois early in his freshman season.

He’s since gone two years without logging any stats. Playing sporadic snaps as a receiver, Dixon also saw the field on special teams while assisting Michigan’s scout team.

After watching the Wolverines culminate an undefeated season with a national title, Dixon can seek a more significant role elsewhere. However, Sherrone Moore will also begin his head-coaching tenure with a vastly different receiving room.

Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson both entered the NFL Draft after standout seasons, and Darrius Clemons transferred to Oregon State. Semaj Morgan leads all returning Wolverines wide receivers with 204 yards, 24 of which the true freshman tallied in a Rose Bowl victory over Alabama.

A Michigan offense that also graduated star quarterback J.J. McCarthy and running back Blake Corum won’t look the same in 2024.
