Serie secuela de Blade Runner será protagonizada por Michelle Yeoh

Amazon Prime Video está en procesos de extender el universo de Blade Runner con una serie secuela de la saga, y han escogido a la actriz ganadora del Oscar, Michhelle Yeoh, para protagonizar dicha producción; te contamos los detalles a continuación.

Esta nueva serie producida por Amazon Prime, llevará el título Blade Runner 2099; el proyecto está en marcha desde septiembre de 2022 y servirá como secuela, tanto de la película original Blade Runner como de la película siguiente, Blade Runner 2049.

Si bien, desconocemos cuales son los detalles de la trama, si sabemos que la actriz, Michelle Yeoh, será quien interpretará a un personaje llamado Olwen, el cual ha sido descrito como un Replicante cerca del final de su vida.

¿Quién es Michelle Yeoh?

Michelle Yeoh es recordada por su papel como Evelyn en la película Everything Everywhere All at Once; papel que le dio la oportunidad de ganar el Premio Oscar como mejor actriz por su participación en 2023, convirtiéndose en la primera persona asiática en ganar este galardón.

También obtuvo reconocimientos en los premios SAG, los premios Independent Spirit y los Globos de Oro por su trabajo en la película.

De igual manera, es conocida por sus papeles en filmes como Crazy Rich Asians, Tigre y Dragón 1 & 2 y la película de James Bond Tomorrow Never Dies y Sunshine.

Cabe aclarar que también será la protagonista de la película derivada de Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Sección 31, para la plataforma de Paramount+.

El universo de Blade Runner

La saga de Blade Runner nos sumerge en un mundo a finales del siglo XX, cuando miles de hombres y mujeres dejan el planeta para conquistar el espacio y escapar de las grandes ciudades, que se volvieron inhabitables.

En la historia se nos hace mención respecto al nacimiento de una nueva raza de esclavos androides llamados Replicantes, quienes son parecidos al hombre, pero superiores en fuerza y agilidad. No obstante, éstos se rebelan y es el trabajo de algunos detenerlos y eliminarlos a toda costa.
