The Hampels played together in the soft rock band 4titude.

They also stayed to defend their home during the Pinery fires in 2015.

Tributes have poured in for the Hampbels, who were remembered as a 'beautiful couple'.

'I wish to advise that my cousin Ian Hampel and his wife Rose sadly lost their lives in a vehicle accident on Friday, 17th of May, 2024,' Mr Hampel's cousin wrote on the Wilmington Community Board page.

'Ian was the eldest son of Ken and Eunice Hampel formerly of Wilmington, SA. Heart elt condolences to Elaine, David and families. Together forever.'

Nephew Ray Hampel wrote: 'Going to miss them and especially Uncle Ian's random conspiracy chats! He knew what the go was in this world!' his nephew wrote.

'My heart is aching, this is so unfair,' a friend wrote.
