Sky News host Andrew Bolt has blasted Immigration Minister Andrew Giles over his “ridiculous” responses to questions about the released detainees during Question Time on Tuesday.
Documents tabled to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee on Monday provided a breakdown of the serious crimes committed by immigration detainees who were freed last year from the landmark NZYQ High Court ruling.
‘Ridiculous’: Andrew Bolt blasts Andrew Giles for refusing to answer questions about detainees
The documents revealed that 24 of the freed detainees have reoffended since they were released into the community.
Mr Giles refused to give a straight answer in parliament when asked if he knew the whereabouts of any of the released criminals.
“A minister is there to serve you. To serve his community. You pay his salary but what we saw today was a man trying to save his own hide by telling you nothing,” Mr Bolt said.
