A tornado warning has been issued across the UK and Northern Ireland. This one was spotted in Worcestershire last year
A red tornado watch warning covering parts of northern England, as well as Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man has been issued by Torro – the UK’s Tornado and Storm Research Organisation. Torro has also suggested that isolated tornadoes could affect the rest of England, including Nottinghamshire, Wales and the Channel islands as Storm Isha blows into the UK.
The main tornado warning is in place from 4pm to 11pm on Sunday, while the rest of the country which could experience isolated tornadoes amid wind gusts of up to 70-80mph along with hail.

A statement on the Torro website says that a powerful Atlantic storm will affect the Republic of Ireland and UK later on Sunday and overnight into Monday morning. A cold front will push northeast and east across all areas through this period.
It goes on to suggest that the cold front will move through overnight into Monday morning, bringing the risk of strong wind gusts and additionally one or two tornadoes are possible.
A tornado is a violent rotating column of air that is in contact with the ground and a storm cloud in the shape of a funnel. The spinning winds can get up to very high speeds and this puts property and life at risk. It is often referred to as a twister or whirlwind and they occur most frequently in North America.
