Germany has granted Ukraine access to closed energy facilities. Ukraine may receive equipment that can be used as donors, according to the Ukrainian Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko.
“In reality, assistance is ongoing. It includes various types of equipment. We are currently working very closely with our Lithuanian friends. Our team of experts in Lithuania is currently assessing the equipment at old thermal power stations, so that we can use them as donors for restoration in Ukraine,” the minister said.
Halushchenko noted that Germany also provides assistance with equipment for the Ukrainian infrastructure.
“The Chancellor of Germany has offered the opportunity to explore German closed facilities that could be utilized,” he said.
Russia targets energy sector again
Russian forces have resumed shelling Ukraine’s energy infrastructure after a prolonged pause. Russians are attacking Ukrainian substations as well as thermal generation.
On April 11, the Trypillia thermal power plant in the Kyiv region was destroyed. Additionally, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russians are preparing provocations under a false flag at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia has destroyed almost all of Ukraine’s thermal generation.
