McGill encampment protesters celebrate court decision
Students and protesters here at McGill University have been chanting and singing and drumming ever since they found out that an injunction to have their encampment cleared from campus was rejected by a Superior Court judge. They’ve been chanting Free, Free Palestine. We spoke with some students earlier, reacting to the news. They said that they were determined to stay at the encampment until the university has responded to their demands. But they’ve said that so far, the administration has shown no openness to doing that. Listen to the injunction. I think that says a lot about them and their lack of respect for student voices, for community voices, for the people Of Montreal in Quebec who have shown up day in and day out, rain or shine, to missing Kaplan. They say that the injunction being rejected proves that they are nonviolent and reaffirms their right to be there and to protest.
