McDonald's set to sell Krispy Kreme donuts in all US locations by 2026

All U.S. McDonald’s restaurants are planning to get a little bit sweeter over the next two years.

The chains announced today in press releases that some of Krispy Kreme’s donuts will be sold at all McDonald’s nationwide starting at the end of 2026.

‘We think we can service about 6,000 restaurants with our existing infrastructure, mostly donut shops, which have excess capacity,’ Krispy Kreme CEO Josh Charlesworth told CNBC.

McDonald’s has about 13,500 US locations, and the company is planning to open 900 new restaurants by 2027.

According to the press release, McDonald’s will be serving three of Krispy Kreme’s ‘most popular’ donuts.

The McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme partnership first began in 2022 and select stores in Kentucky began selling their glazed donuts for a limited time

Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s entered their partnership back in October 2022.

McDonald’s first began selling Krispy Kreme donuts at nine of their restaurants in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2022 for a limited time.

The chains later expanded their limited time offer to 160 McDonald’s restaurants in Louisville and Lexington by February 2023.

The popularity led to Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s being open to making their offer nationwide.

‘The top request we receive from consumers, every day, is, “please bring Krispy Kreme to my town,”‘ said Charlesworth.

‘Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and donut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh donuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme.’

Since the restaurant chain’s announced the donut expansion, Krispy Kreme’s stocks rose by more than 20 percent.

Krispy Kreme said in their statement that the donuts will be ‘delivered fresh to McDonald’s restaurants every day.’

They will be available for purchase individually or in boxes of six throughout the entire day.

Donut and McDonald’s lovers who aren’t up for a classic can order the Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles.

The chocolatey treat is a ‘twist on the original’ and is covered in chocolate icing.

Foodies can also get just as much icing from a Chocolate Iced Kreme filled donut.

It’s described by Krispy Kreme as a donut that’s ‘made with a light, fluffy dough’ and ‘filled with a smooth Kreme filling.’

Anyone looking to get their hands on a free Krispy Kreme glazed donut can do so today at any of the coffeehouse chains U.S. locations from 5 am to 9 pm.
