Aboriginal leader Jay Walton would like to see the both the Australian flag and date of Australia Day changed as they fail to represent indigenous people.
“Every day the Union Jack is on our flag,” he told Sky News Australia host Erin Markson.
“Indigenous people are not represented and don’t feel connected to our flag which creates three separate divisions within one nation.
“Instead of harmony over a flag that should be celebrated because everybody is included.
Mr Walton’s come amid growing controversy over the need to celebrate Australia Day with supermarket giants Woolworths and Aldi opting not to sell Australia Day merch this year.
