Maruti Suzuki Teases All-New Swift Ahead Of May 9 Launch, Bookings Open Now

Maruti Suzuki has given a sneak peek of the upcoming Swift, set to hit Indian roads soon, possibly on May 9.
Bookings are now open with a token amount of just Rs 11,000, available online or at dealerships.
This latest version marks the fourth generation of the beloved hatchback in India, boasting fresh looks, a plush interior inspired by premium Maruti models, and a revamped engine.
The upcoming Swift retains its iconic shape and style, with subtle yet noticeable updates from its predecessor. Sources suggest that the Indian version will sport exclusive bumpers and alloy wheels, slightly elongated but slimmer dimensions compared to the outgoing model, while keeping the same wheelbase intact, as reported by Autocar.
Inside, the Swift gets a brand-new interior, sharing components with the Baleno and Fronx models. While some dashboard panels and the 9.0-inch touchscreen housing may have seen tweaks, the familiar infotainment unit, HVAC controls, steering wheel, and door switches remain intact. Safety features like six airbags and ESP are likely to be standard, enhancing overall safety.
Furthermore, the new Swift houses a fresh powertrain—a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, replacing the previous K12 four-cylinder engine.
Maruti aims for high fuel efficiency without compromising on power, with expected outputs similar to the outgoing model. There’s also talk of mild-hybrid technology. The transmission options, whether sticking with the AMT or upgrading to the 6-speed torque converter, remain uncertain.
Upon its debut, the new Swift will compete against rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, the Tata Tiago, and the Citroen C3.
Prices are anticipated to increase marginally from the current range of Rs 6.24 lakh-8.83 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki’s recent price hike on the existing Swift aims to position the new model as a more attractive option in terms of affordability.
