Colorado Avalanche forward Brandon Duhaime and Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury have created plenty of headlines with their prank war. This was especially the case after Duhaime reignited their war following his trade to the Avs by TPing the future Hall of Famer’s car.
Fleury responded in a big way following Duhaime’s prank by stealing his vehicle’s wheels and putting dirt and flowers all over the gritty Avalanche forward’s car.
With Fleury being 39 years old, there was some speculation that he could retire at the end of the season. That would have ended his prank war with Duhaime, but now, we know this isn’t coming to fruition.
Fleury has signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract extension with the Wild for the 2024-25 season. Thus, Duhaime will have the opportunity to get Fleury back if he wishes to.
All humor aside, it is remarkable to see Fleury return for what will be his 21st NHL season. It is extremely rare to see a goalie play more than two decades in the NHL, but given how wonderful a career Fleury has had, it is not surprising that he has lasted so long.

In 39 games this season with the Wild, Fleury has a 17-14-5 record, a 2.98 GAA, and a .895 SV%.
