When the Toronto Maple Leafs took to the ice for their first practice in Boston Friday, there was a notable absence from the session.
William Nylander was not on the ice for practice and head coach Sheldon Keefe said that the winger is a possibility to play in Game 1.
Keefe did not provide a reason for Nylander’s absence saying general manager Brad Treliving doesn’t want injury information made public during the playoffs.
Calle Jarnkrok took Nylander’s spot on the third line and on the top power-play unit. Jarnkrok has been sidelined since March 14 after crashing into the boards.
Forward Bobby McMann was also absent from practice. The forward missed the last two games of the regular season with a lower-body injury.
Fortunately for the Leafs, Max Domi was a full participant at practice skating on the top line with Auston Matthews and Tyler Bertuzzi. After practice, Domi told reporters that he is 100 per cent healthy and ready to go for Game 1.
Domi missed the final two games of the regular season with an undisclosed injury.
The 29-year-old has nine goals and 38 assists this season.
