Map shows pubs that will reopen after £39,000,000 boost from Heineken this year

Heineken is reopening 62 pubs across the UK this year after investing £39,000,000 into its Star Pubs chain.
Communities will see their beloved local pubs return after a rough few years for the hospitality industry, with Covid-19 closures and rising inflation.
The country lost an average of 32 pubs each month in 2022, City AM reported.
But Star Pubs ‘is on track to have the lowest number of closed pubs since 2019’ thanks to an injection of cash from the Dutch brewing company.
More than 600 pubs – a quarter of the chain’s 2,400 establishments – will get a makeover to their interior, toilets and gardens, including 62 ‘long-term closed locals’.
The company hopes the revamps will create 1,075 new jobs.

Lawson Mountstevens, managing director of Star Pubs, said: ‘[People] want great surroundings and food and drink as well as activities that give them an extra reason to go out, such as sports screenings and entertainment.
‘Creating fantastic locals that can accommodate a range of occasions meets this need and helps pubs fulfil their role as vital third spaces where communities can come together.’
The company has shared a list of 12 of the pubs set to re-open this year. All are in England.

Of those, two have already opened this month.
Six months since it closed, The Cherry Tree, a pub in Witham, Essex dating to the early 1900s, has re-launched as a ‘family-friendly community village pub’ after a £180,000 upgrade.
In Aveley, Essex, The Crown & Anchor was closed for a year before a £244,000 transformation into a sports and entertainment bar.

A third, The Wildmoor Oak gastro pub near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, just south of Birmingham, will be revived from 18 months of closure later this month after a £513,000 revamp.
Mountstevens said: ‘Pubs have proved their enduring appeal; after all the disruption of recent years, Star is on track to have the lowest number of closed pubs since 2019.

- The Manvers Arms, Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire
- The Punch Bowl, West Hallam, Derbyshire
- The Rose of Denmark, Bristol
- Roxy’s Steak & Tap, Twickenham
- The Talbot, Cheslyn Hay, Staffordshire
- The Winterton Arms, Chiddingfold, Surrey

‘We’ve spent more than £200m upgrading and maintaining our pubs over the last five years, and we’ll continue to invest to keep them open and thriving.
‘Time and again we see the value consumers place on having a good local and how important it is to communities.
‘Well-invested pubs run by great licensees are here to stay, but like all locals, they need government support to reduce the enormous tax burden they shoulder.’
