Erik ten Hag’s injury crisis afflicting the Manchester United defence has only grown during the international break.
Harry Maguire suffered an issue on England duty to join Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Jonny Evans on the sidelines.
United return to action on Saturday night at Brentford.
There are a few players in contention to return for that trip to the capital including Casemiro.
Here is your latest update of Man Utd injury news and return dates…
Harry Maguire
England defender Maguire came off with an injury complaint in the second half of the Three Lions’ defeat to Brazil on the weekend.
United will put him through scans to assess the extent of the unspecified issue, after he missed Tuesday’s draw with Belgium.
Potential return date: Unknown
Lisandro Martinez
Lisandro Martinez is nearing a return to first-team action after almost two months out.
The defender picked up a knee injury against West Ham in February, having already missed much of the season with a foot problem, but Martinez is closing in on a comeback.
He was called up for the Argentina squad for the international break, training with his team-mates, before returning to England and he will now look to prove his fitness in time to feature against Brentford.
Potential return date: Saturday March 30, vs Brentford
Luke Shaw
A muscle injury suffered in February has left Shaw in a race to be fit before the end of the season.
The left-back’s participation at Euro 2024 is in serious doubt, as well as any role in United’s run-in which could include an FA Cup final on May 25.
Potential return date: May/June 2024

Casemiro
It was confirmed ahead of the international break that Casemiro would miss Brazil’s matches against England and Spain.
The midfielder is believed to have suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury, one that kept him out of the dramatic FA Cup win over Liverpool.
No official update has been provided by United, with Casemiro not yet ruled out of this weekend’s clash against Brentford.
Potential return date: Saturday March 30, vs Brentford
Altay Bayindir
Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is expected to make a swift return to action.
The 25-year-old was ruled out of the Liverpool clash before the international break with an injury, keeping him out of Turkey’s fixtures too, but the club reported he would only miss “around two weeks”.
Bayindir could therefore be back in the squad against Brentford.

Jonny Evans
Jonny Evans was absent from the Northern Ireland squad for the games against Romania and Scotland, with United hoping that a two-week break will enable the defender to return after the international break after he missed the win over Liverpool.
The club said: “The vastly experienced centre-back has been nursing a minor issue for the past few matches and, consequently, his game-time has been carefully managed.
“It is in the best interests of both club and country for him to have a period of rest, in order to recover fully.”
Potential return date: Saturday March 30, vs Brentford
Tyrell Malacia
The wait for Tyrell Malacia’s first appearance of the season goes on.
The left-back has been out since undergoing knee surgery in the summer, having then been hit with a number of setbacks in his recovery.
While there have been some positive updates on Malacia’s situation, Ten Hag confirmed earlier this month that he is unlikely to return this season.
“I think it’s going to be difficult for him this season to be available,” Ten Hag said.
“He will fight, he’s back on the pitch, but not in the team and the process had some setbacks for him and he’s still going forwards really slowly, and the season is coming to an end.”
Potential return date: Spring/summer 2024
Anthony Martial
It remains to be seen whether Anthony Martial will play again for United.
The forward is out of contract in the summer, with no new deal expected, and is currently on the sidelines after undergoing groin surgery in January.
The club suggested at the time that Martial would be out for about ten weeks, meaning a possible return in April if there are no further injury problems.
Potential return date: April 2024
