A new bakery is set to open up in South Queensferry, from the team behind Plant Bae and Grams.
Lewis, who ran both former bakeries and is setting up this new spot, said customers can expect the return of “all the options Plant Bae had and the giant croissants”. The huge pastry treats had a viral moment in December, with foodies coming from far and wide to try their pastry.
On Instagram, Dune Bakery said: “South Queensferry, see you soon!

“So this is all happened very quickly. I’ve been pretty busy working behind-the-scenes over the last month to make this happen. We really enjoyed the last year of doing pastry in Leith, but we want to be the best at it or at least up there anyway.
“We needed more space to allow us to achieve this and we had a restrictive space (Its only a 20 minute car ride and who doesn’t love the view!). I know some people will be upset we’re not coming back as we were but we will still be doing a lot of the options we had at Plant Bae and the giant croissants will be returning!

“Our main focus will be on local good quality coffee, the highest quality of pastry, and if our oven arrives in time, lots of sourdough and focaccia. We will be hard at work to get open over the next month so I hope to see you all soon! Any questions?!”
One follower responded: “OMG This is the best news as I never managed to get in for one of the huge croissants and I live in South Queensferry! This made my week.”

Lewis announced the closure of Plant Bae in January, with an emotional post to social media. He said: “Plant Bae has been amazing, I love doing pastry and it’s just got busier and busier.
“The first week in January was one of our busiest including August. So why close? Three reasons: 1) our lease was tied up with Grams which was getting closed down which = new lease needed quicker than anticipated. 2) We never planned on doing pastry and literally ran out of space months ago 3) working 12 hours a day in a basement is s*** for your health.

“The unit is great overall and I can assure you we will miss our customers more than you’ll miss us, if the unit was bigger maybe we’d still be here. Leithers are the best, fact.
“Big thanks to my staff, especially those that have been with me for years. Only four of us last couple months but good staff make it feel easy.”
