Most of the migrants who cheated death when they were smuggled into Ireland in a refrigerated container have now left the centre where they were being housed, it has emerged.
Sources last night confirmed that as many as eight of the 14 people rescued from the container at Rosslare Europort on Monday morning had quit the Dublin centre yesterday.
They had been at the centre since they were found on the container that had just landed on a ferry from the Belgian port of Zeebrugge after one of them raised the alarm by ringing British police for help.

Sources have confirmed that centre management had no power to stop the migrants leaving – and neither had gardaí.
They were not under arrest and were not suspects.
It’s understood investigators believe they plan to head to the United Kingdom.
Sources said gardaí believed that was their original destination and they had no intentions to come to Ireland – but people smugglers dumped them on the ferry to here.
Six of the migrants were still being cared for in Ireland last night.
