LTO launches quick-response hotline

(UPDATE) THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched a hotline that will quickly address complaints of abusive behaviors on the road, as well as online scams.
LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II said that “Aksyon on the Spot” will receive complaints about rude and erring motorists and fraudulent online practice of phishing.
Phishing is the method of sending emails or text messages purportedly from companies and government agencies. In most cases, the message contains a link that would expose personal information on the target victims once clicked.
Mendoza said the hotline is aimed at ensuring a quick response from the government against irresponsible and disrespectful motorists in line with the instruction of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista to ensure the safety of all road users.
He said road users may send text messages to 09292920865 “if they cross paths with abusive motorists on the road.”
“Through our hotline, the LTO can quickly respond to complaints from simple traffic violations to road rage and even the use of blinkers or sirens,” said Mendoza.
Likewise, he said they will be distributing “Aksyon on the Spot” stickers to motorists to take advantage of the feature of the hotline, which also carries a QR code that will provide access to the complainants.
Mendoza gave assurances that any information provided through the hotline will be considered confidential and protected under the Data Privacy Act.
He said they will coordinate with other law enforcement agencies to ensure prompt action will be carried out after a complaint is made.
