Detroit Lions have 30 visit with massive, athletic OT prospect

While the Detroit Lions are set at all five starting spots along the offensive line going into 2024, the team should be looking to add more depth and a potential long-term solution or two in the 2024 NFL draft.

One draft target for the Lions is University of British Columbia offensive tackle, Giovanni Manu, who the Lions have a 30 visit scheduled with, per Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.

Manu is the definition of an absolute unit, standing at 6-foot-7 and 352 pounds — but he carries his size extremely well, as evidenced by his running a 4.96 40-yard dash and posting a 33.5-inch vertical at his pro day. He’s also a former basketball star.

Here’s more on the intriguing prospect, courtesy of Next Pro Scouting:

Bottom Line: Giovanni Manu is an intriguing offensive tackle prospect from the University of British Columbia, known for his immense size, strength, and unexpected athleticism. His ability to impact both the run game and pass protection makes him a valuable asset for NFL teams looking for a dominant presence on the offensive line.

It remains to be seen exactly how high teams are on the Tongan offensive lineman in terms of when he could get drafted, but there appears to be a fair amount of hype for Manu, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him go on Day 3.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt for the Lions to start planning ahead with their offensive line, which is expensive (even before a Penei Sewell extension) and getting older.
