Jealous husband nabbed in Beaufort for assaulting wife
KOTA KINABALU: A 34-year-old woman in Beaufort district was allegedly beaten up by her husband, who suspected her of cheating on him.
The 35-year-old man is said to have punched his wife in the face and issued death threats while they were inside their car on Saturday (Feb 10).
Beaufort OCPD Deputy Supt Ismail Abdullah said it was believed the incident happened at around 10am in a parked vehicle outside the couple’s house in Kg Siaun, Menumbok.
“From initial investigations, it is learnt that the couple got into an argument after the man (accused) his wife of cheating on him,” he said.
“He grew jealous and… hit his wife in the face and threatened to kill her,” he said when contacted on Sunday (Feb 11).
The woman sustained injuries on her right cheek and under her eyebrows, he added.
He said the suspect was picked up after a police report was lodged, and was remanded for four days until Thursday (Feb 15) to help with the probe.
This case is being investigated for causing hurt and domestic violence, DSP Ismail added.
