Los árbitros admiten su error en el polémico final del Knicks-Pacers

Nueva York, 6 may (EFE).- Los árbitros reconocieron este lunes su error en una jugada crucial del polémico desenlace del Knicks-Pacers que se acabaron llevando los neoyorquinos por 121-117 para adelantarse 1-0 en esta semifinal del Este contra Indiana.

En un final muy apretado hubo varias jugadas controvertidas como un bloqueo a falta de 12 segundos y con Indiana atacando para ponerse por delante que acabó con falta de Myles Turner y balón para los Knicks.

No obstante, los árbitros hablaron de otra decisión polémica: una jugada en la que Aaron Nesmith robó el balón con 52 segundos en el reloj y el marcador empatado pero le pitaron que lo había tocado con el pie.

En lugar de un contraataque para Indiana, que ya tenía el balón en su poder y lanzaba la transición, la posesión posterior acabó con un triple de Donte DiVincenzo que resultaría fundamental para el triunfo de los locales.

“En la pista creímos que había sido falta de pie. La revisión tras el partido mostró que había golpeado la mano del defensor, lo que sería legal”, admitió el árbitro Zach Zarba según el pool de la NBA.

Ese error fue especialmente cruel para los Pacers ya que, como detallaron también los árbitros, las faltas de pie no se pueden revisar ni ser objeto de ‘challenge’ por parte de los entrenadores.

Jalen Brunson (43 puntos, 6 rebotes y 6 asistencias) volvió a ser el héroe de unos Knicks que el miércoles buscarán el 2-0 contra los Pacers en un partido que se jugará también en Nueva York.
