2024 NBA All-Rookie Team: Wembanyama, Holmgren headline top rookies of the season
After a historic rookie campaign and a unanimous Rookie of the Year win, San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama headlines the NBA's All-Rookie First Team, named earlier today. No surprise there; it was also no surprise that the second and third-place finishers for Rookie of the Year – Oklahoma City's Chet Holmgren and Charlotte's Brandon Miller – were named First-Teamers as well. However, the final two spots were up for grabs.
Ultimately, they were granted to this year's fourth and fifth-place finishers for Rookie of the Year -- Miami's Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Golden State's Brandin Podziemski.
The All-Rookie Second Team consisted of Dallas center Dereck Lively II, Houston guard/forward Amen Thompson, Utah guard Keyonte George, Oklahoma City guard Cason Wallace, and Memphis forward GG Jackson II. Of that group, only Lively received any votes for Rookie of the Year.

Who was left off the NBA All-Rookie teams?
The first rookies left off this year's All-Rookie teams were Golden State's Trayce Jackson-Davis, Detroit's Asuar Thompson, Portland's Scoot Henderson, and Washington's Bilal Coulibaly.
The race for the final second-team spot was incredibly close. Jackson-Davis actually received more total All-Rookie votes than second-teamer GG Jackson II (42-38). However, Jackson II's five first-team votes propelled him over Jackson-Davis with 43 total points compared to Jackson-Davis' 42.
When will the All-Defense and All-NBA teams be revealed?
The All-Defense teams will be revealed tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21, while the All-NBA teams will be revealed on Wednesday.
Victor Wembanyama should receive serious consideration for both the All-Defense and All-NBA teams, especially the former considering he finished second-place in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Should Wembanyama be named to either the All-Defense or All-NBA team, he would become the third Spurs' big man to accomplish that feat – Tim Duncan (1998) and David Robinson (1990).
Only five rookies have ever been given All-Defense honors. Outside of Duncan and Robinson, the other three were Manute Bol (1986), Hakeem Olajuwon (1985), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1970).
